About me
Bart GROOTHUIS is a Member of European Parliament (Renew - Netherlands), serving since 2020. In the 10th European Parliament, he is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and a substitute on the Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE). As rapporteur for the NIS 2 Directive, he worked with the Council and the Commission to strengthen cybersecurity protections for critical infrastructure, essential services and key sectors across the European Union. Bart is also actively engaged with a group of MEPs focusing on quantum computing, advocating for the Commission to accelerate the deployment of post-quantum cryptography (PQC). Prior to joining the European Parliament, Bart served as the Head of Cybersecurity for the Dutch Ministry of Defence. Bart holds degrees from Radboud University.
